THE EIFFEL TOWER USED 7,300 TONS OF IRON!
Share
Did you know the Eiffel Tower used a huge amount of iron, 7,300 tons to be exact!
It may be difficult to visualize so here something to wrap your head around-
- 1 ,500 times the weight of an elephant
- 6.5 million times the weight of a human brain
- About 1/2 the weight of an average oil rig
Even after 137 years and more than 300 million people who have visited the sight the iron still stands strong!
The amazing tower was almost never built, then when it was built they had plans on only letting it stand for 20 years before getting demolished. After all, the only reason it was built was to flaunt France's industrial strength during the 1889 World's Fair!
